Q&A with Sarah Greer
Tell us a little about you, where you live, children, occupation, etc.
My name is Sarah Greer and am originally from Knoxville, Tennessee, five years ago I moved to Charleston, SC for work. I have been married for seven years and do not have any kids.
Describe your nutrition before starting the Burn Fat and Feast program.
My job is kind of hard to determine what each day is going to bring, so historically I have really struggled with planning and knowing what I can and cannot do day to day. Sometimes I do not have a chance to heat up food and others I do not even have a chance to bring my own food. That has been the excuse I have used for the past nine years or so.
Describe your fitness routine before starting the Burn Fat and Feast program.
I have yo-yo dieted probably since my late 20’s, as I did not have any issue with weight up until then. But all the fun drinking, partying, and late night pizza finally caught up with me and my metabolism just shut down at 30. I have tried a lot of different things. I am a class A Type A perfectionist and will complete a program to a “T” to get to where I want to be. Then I’m done. I go back to everything I was doing before to gain it all back and more.
What made you decide to join this program?
First of all, I felt horrible. Second, I was very intrigued by the fasting and the number of calories. Everything I have done has been a calorie deficit and I do that perfectly but that is also why I fall off so easily. I would be literally hungry and the cravings would be out of control. I do not have a lot of time, my job can be all over and a bit crazy. I did the research. I thought your metabolism shuts down when you fast. That’s the last thing I need. I really looked into it and what I found was the complete polar opposite. It actually does your body so much good. Fasting, coupled with the fact that my food (my regular macro calorie days) is close to 2,000 calories, I knew this was a program that could work for me and could be lasting. I also enjoy the idea of the community; the fact that I have to have some accountability.
How do you feel now that you have graduated?
I don’t feel like I am on a diet. I feel like I’m just going through life. Another reason I felt like I needed to do this was because I was retreating from hanging out with friends and family because I felt so uncomfortable with myself. That is not me. I am a social person. I want to be around people. That was a real red flag. This really changed everything in my life.
Share with us 2 successes, things you learned or what your biggest takeaways were upon completion.
I truly feel like it is my thing. Nobody asks me about my diet at this point. I’m just doing it and it has becoming part of life. Don’t be overwhelmed by the words fasting and carb cycling. Don’t be scared by the specifics of macros. It becomes a normal part of life. The motto is “progress over perfection.” As a perfectionist, that’s exactly what I needed to hear.
